This however requires the consent of the underlying registry and the registration is valid for as long as the period of the bareboat charter agreement. Underlying registry means the Flag State in which the actual owners of the vessel are registered as Owners and to which jurisdiction and control of the vessel will revert upon termination of the Bareboat Charter Registration.

Bareboat Charter-Out
A vessel registered under Kiribati Ship Registry may be chartered out and registered with another registry in the name of the bareboat charterers. During this period, the vessel's status under the Kiribati Ship Registry will be suspended until its reactivation.
