  REGISTRATION OF MORTGAGES  
 
 
 
REGISTRATION OF MORTGAGES
  1. Registration of mortgage is allowed as soon as vessel is provisionally registered.
  2. For provisionally registered vessel, mortgagee (e.g. bank, shipyard etc) is to confirm that they have sighted the original document of title of ownership (e.g. Bill of Sale)
  3. Confirmation of payment for registration of mortgage.
  4. Submit Mortgage Deed and Mortgage Agreement to the Tuvalu Ship Registry and the Registrar/Deputy Registrar will confirm provisional date/time of mortgage registration.
  5. Upon receipt of original Mortgage Deed and copy of Mortgage Agreement, Registrar/ Deputy Registrar will endorse with same date/time as in point 4 above.
  6. The Registry will check on the priority of mortgages.
  7. The Registry will issue Certificate of Mortgage Registration.
  8. The Registry will keep a copy of Certificate of Mortgage Registration and Mortgage Deed in the ship's file. Originals will be returned to applicant.


DISCHARGE OF MORTGAGES.
  1. The Registry must obtain original Mortgage Deed (showing mortgage is discharged by mortgagee in the relevant section - back page)
  2. Submission of above document to Registry
  3. Confirmation of payment for discharge of mortgage
  4. The Registry will discharge the mortgage on the Mortgage Deed (front page).
  5. The Registry will keep a copy and return original Mortgage Deed to applicant.
